Who Can Use Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels (MOW) is a service to enable independence for the frail, aged, those who have a long term moderate to severe disability (including young people), and those who care for them. To receive our home delivery services, phone our office and our friendly coordinator will come and discuss your needs. Our contact us details are at this link. We provide home delivered meals and assessment for other welfare and support services. You can be referred to Meals on Wheels by:
Yourself, family, friends, doctors, hospitals - anyone can refer you.
Meals
Meals are home delivered by volunteer drivers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can order as many meals per week as you require.
Our meals consist of the following meal items, it is your choice how many items you have home delivered. The menu rotates on a four week cycle and is varied seasonally.

Main Meal - normally chilled or frozen, but hot under special circumstances

Snack Packs - a selection of chips, cheese and biscuits, chocolate, fruit etc
Special diets (diabetic, vegetarian, coeliac, puree, cut up etc) are available if needed.
We have quite an extensive frozen meal menu available, including vegetarian. Some of our clients prefer to order from this menu and have their meals delivered once a week. This alleviates the need for them to be home every Monday Wednesday and Friday. If you order from this menu you can change your choices whenever you like. Be aware we order two weeks ahead so it will take at least two weeks before your menu change takes place.
Hints on looking after meals
Soup
Will be delivered in a plastic container with each meal. Keep in refrigerator and heat when required but use within 24 hours.
Main Meal
Chilled meal - refrigerate until needed but use within 24 hours
Frozen meal - store in the refrigerator to allow it to defrost slowly overnight. Heat in the normal way when needed but use within 24 hours after defrosting. If not using the next day, store in the freezer until required.
Dessert
Store in your refrigerator until ready to eat but use within 24 hours
Juice
Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
PLEASE NOTE:
All soup, desserts and chilled or defrosted meals left in refrigerator, MUST be thrown out after a maximum of 24 hours.
Meals on Wheels Cost and payment For our Food Menu
Cost per meal component is itemised below: Prices are kept as low as possible, for our food delivered. But are subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Management. Clients will receive notification via circular if any changes to this cost are made. The price is based purely on meal cost only and administration and delivery charges are not incorporated. Delivery is done on a volunteer basis.
